I've always admired your grit and determination and I continue to today....even though we haven't seen each other in years. It must be hard to have to adjust to a new life. You had a normal life with "normal" kids and then all of a sudden have the diagnosis of Autism on your lap. It doesn't just change your life and your kids' life, it changes all your relationships. It changes how you interact with friends and family and the public. As someone who works with Autistic kids, I can understand how difficult it can be, but will never fully understand unless I have a child with Autism myself.

I think it's understandable when you are MIA for awhile! You deal with quite a bit on an every day basis. Isn't it interesting how so many allergies and other things tend to pop up either before or after the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder? I've found in kids that I know with Autism, that they also suffer from some kind of allergy or other problem along those lines. If you have to have one thing, why not have them all!

It's amazing that medicine is often the first option in treating diseases. I definitely think that there are other great options out there, like art therapy, music therapy, and the other more conventional therapies that can give the same results and sometimes better results. It's encouraging to see families of Autistic kids and ADHD kids taking a different route than medicine!

I'm sure it's hard to accommodate for Sammy's dietary needs. I have a cousin that we have to do the same thing for as well as an aunt. It's wonderful that you didn't have to let that get in the way of celebrating his birthday! Even better than that is the fact that Sammy really doesn't know or care at this time in his life the different things that you have to do for him!
